Chiropractic
Chiropractic is the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of musculoskeletal (bones, muscles, tendons, joints and cartilage) conditions and disorders. Chiropractic care is able to treat these conditions and the effect they have on the nervous system. The traditional chiropractic adjustment is only one method that our chiropractors can use to treat your condition. Many conditions may benefit more from modalities such as Active Release Techniques (massage type treatment), Laser Therapy, Graston Technique, medical acupuncture, dry needling or many other modalities. It is important to discuss any concerns or wishes you have during your treatment planning stage, so that you are fully informed and in agreement with the proposed treatment course.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is anchored in movement science. Your physiotherapist will assess and diagnose your injury, chronic condition(s), and health concerns, and develop a treatment plan that is focused on increasing your ability to move and function without pain. We presently offer physiotherapy via virtual telehealth appointments.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is for individuals of all sexes and genders seeking treatment for incontinence, urgency, frequency, pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder and pelvic pain. Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is available in clinic in a private treatment room, and we also offer appointments from the comfort of your own home via secure, private virtual telehealth or video appointments. You are not required to disrobe for virtual appointments.
Vestibular Rehabilitation
*IF YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM ACUTE VESTIBULAR / VERTIGO SYMPTOMS, PLEASE CALL THE CLINIC (403-454-1445) TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT AS WE MAY BE ABLE TO ACCOMODATE YOU SOONER THAN THE SCHEDULE INDICATES*
Vestibular rehabilitation is the assessment and treatment of conditions related to the vestibular system. Symptoms of such disorders can include one or more of the following: dizziness, vertigo, unsteadiness, motion sensitivity, blurred vision, or associated symptoms of nausea, headaches, fatigue or anxiety.
Your first appointment will include a detailed vestibular assessment using Infrared Video Goggles performed by the physiotherapist to determine the most likely cause of your symptoms. You will be provided with education on your condition and an individualized home program, that will be monitored and progressed according to your needs.
Virtual Physiotherapy
Feel better in the comfort and convenience of your own home! Virtual, one on one appointments with one of our physiotherapists include an initial consultation, assessment and treatment for your health concern. Your physiotherapist will work with you, through a secure online video call, to educate you on home-care activities that can help reduce your discomfort and support your healing.
Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy is the assessment and treatment of the soft tissues of the body, specifically, the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health. At Energize Health, it is our goal to make sure that your massage therapy appointment is the most clinically effective treatment for your current health concern. Whether it is purely for relaxation, a recent sports injury, or 10 year old shoulder problem that never seems to go away, our team of professionals will strive to make sure that your appointment helps you achieve your desired goals.
TCM / Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique thought improve the body's functions and natural healing ability. Generally acupuncture is performed by inserting tiny needles into various acupuncture points around the body. Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system and trigger the body to produce or release various biological chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain (opiods, seratonin, dopamine, etc). These biochemical changes have been shown stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being..
According to John Hopinks Medicine, various National Institutes of Health (NIH) studies have shown that acupuncture is an effective treatment alone or in combination with conventional therapies to treat the following: Nausea caused by surgical anesthesia and cancer chemotherapy, dental pain after surgery, addiction, headaches, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis pain, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and may also help with stroke rehabilitation.
Laser Therapy
Laser Therapy is a non-invasive, painless treatment which uses focused light at specific wavelengths to help reduce and often eliminate pain from injuries and chronic conditions. The laser light stimulates the mitochondria (energy powerhouses) in all types of cells - muscle, bone, tendon, ligament, blood, etc. - causing the cells to work faster and more optimally. Increasing the efficiency and speed at which your cells function has a profound effect on tissue healing.
Laser is currently offered by both our Registered Massage Therapist's and also Manual Osteopathic Therapist. Please ensure you have coverage for either Massage Therapy or Manual Osteopathic Therapy if you wish to claim these appointments with your extended health insurance.
Shockwave
Shockwave Therapy is the latest innovation in the treatment of chronic soft tissue injuries. A projectile is propelled inside the hand-piece where it generates a mechanical pressure wave that is transferred to the human body. This mechanical wave triggers reactions in the tissue that have a positive influence on a wide range of orthopedic and neurological conditions. Over 80% of patients achieve a successful resolution of their symptoms in less than 5 sessions of Shockwave Therapy.
* Shockwave appointments are currently offered by either our Registered Massage Therapists or our Manual Osteopath. If you plan on claiming these treatments through your extended health, make sure to book your appointment with a practitioner that you have coverage for.*
Custom Foot Orthotics
Your feet don't need to change, but they may need to be supported. We are all unique and our feet are all different. There is no such thing as a perfect arch or a perfect stride, there is only your arch and your stride. The goal of our orthotics is not to change your foot or how you walk, it is to support your foot in whatever position is natural for you. This will allow for a reduction in any discomfort you have while being on your feet.
Our custom orthotics should create the most comfortable footwear you own. From the moment you step onto the orthotic, you should notice an improvement in balance and stability and likely a decrease in discomfort.
*Some insurance plans require orthotics to be created by a podiatrist in order to cover the product. Energize Health orthotics are created by a registered massage therapist with advanced training in orthotic production. Depending on the specifics of your insurance plan, they may or may not be covered.*
Manual Osteopathic Therapy
* Canada Life Insurance is not currently accepting claims for manual osteopathy due to a lack of recognition of the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Association as an approved provider. All other insurance companies will cover Osteopathy claims*.
Osteopathic Manual Therapy is the assessment and treatment of all of the components that make up the structure of the human body. Whether it is organs, musculoskeletal dysfunction, joint issues or an impairment in the circulatory system, a manual osteopath is able to determine the root of your condition and provide an effective treatment to alleviate your symptoms and bring your body back into balance.
